Sleep isn’t the first thing to come to mind when we discuss success. If anything, it is an afterthought.

Many business leaders believe it is a badge of honor to get less sleep than the competition. Donald Trump, President Obama, Jay Leno and many others regularly boast about getting less than six hours of sleep per night.

At first thought this makes sense. There are only 24 hours in a day, so to get ahead of the competition the first thing we can cut out is sleep. Then we have more hours to work, create, respond to customers, make decisions, and spend time with our families.
